Diseases and Illnesses

So as stated on the camp message board I had difficulties coming up with names for my disease. And I thought why not make a general topic for diseases where we can help each other out. 

For now I can tell the disease I am working on is related to demons or some kind of dark spirits. Victims grow weak, fall in a coma and ultimately die when not cured. They also have strange blackish marks spreading on their body's with the progress of the disease. Perhaps the blackness follows their veins. I haven't worked this out completely but now you have some sort of idea I hope.

Demonic illness are a whole different level of ick from normal illnesses. They usually come with a new slew of problems and beliefs added on to it. It'll probably take more fleshing out than your average disease.

The blackish marks got me thinking about a poison (I think it's an ancient Chinese poison or a torture technique) anyway, this poison is usually injected in your forearm and as it progresses, it darkens your veins. You see it slowly moving up your arm and you know that when it reaches our heart, you'll die. I don't think you get any ill effects of this poison, I think you remain perfectly healthy until it reaches your heart. But it torments you because you can track how many days you have left to live.

Instead of darkening the veins of the characters who are infected, you could darken the skin or turn the blackish marks into weird demonic writing that's actually a spell, and when the entire body is covered in this spell, they die.

Thank you for your Idea. I think I am going to leave it as is for the time being. Their skin does start to look unhealthy. Like a greyish/pale complexion and maybe their eyes become bloodshot.
